Tamil Nadu Government’s Chefr Secretary, Mr. K. Gnanadesikan, has released the list of state government holidays for the year 2016.
This list of holidays will be valid for all cooperative banks in Tamil Nadu including all commercial banks, public institutions, all government constituted Boards & corporations,
As per this list holidays like 1st January (New Year Day), 25th March (Good Friday), 1st April (Accounts closing Day), and 8th April (Telugu New Year’s Day) fall on Fridays. The subsequent Saturdays & Sundays happen to be holidays as well.
In a similar way, Independence Day, Vinayaka Chathurthi, and Mildi Nabi fall on Mondays. This makes way for 3 successive holidays again!
However, at the same time, ususal hoiuldays like Deepavali, Christmas, Gandhi Jayanthi, May Day, ‘Uzhavar Thirunal’, and Thiruvalluvar Day fall on Saturdays & Sundays in 2016, thus depriving the general public of a few certain holidays!
