Vellore Science Centre is located at Sathuvachary. A 1-day special training programme was organised here to create awareness about science on the occasion of celebrating ‘International year of Light & Light-based products’. District Science Education officer (in-charge) Mr. Palanisamy presided.

Light is required for the life of humans and animals and the photosynthesis processing of plants. The benefits of light were researched as early as 10th century.
Light happens to be the basic source of many inventions being made currently.
Light is the basic element which is required in various sectors of operation. It is very essential especially in medical science. There are many rays which are invisible to human eyes. Light is the base on which the field of Information Technology progresses.
Students should work and involve in constructive activities. They should avoid excessive use of cell-phones, etc. The state government of Tamil Nadu has initiated various steps for the students to develop their science knowledge.
Dr. Abdul Kalam was born in an average-class family but grew to be a leading space scientist. You should all emulate him and try to establish yourselves.
Associate Professor Mr. Srinivasakumaran from Government Muthurangam Arts & science College and Assistant Professor Mr. L. Rajasekaran from Thirumagal Government Mill College participated in a symposium and joint discussion on the topics of‘Basics of Light’ and ‘Applications of Light’ respectively during the training programme.
