Awareness procession on wearing helmets – Collector participates

201506202303104919_Awareness-police-procession-wearing-helmet_SECVPFAn awareness procession on motorbikes was conducted yesterday (Monday, 14thSeptember)  at Vellore on the importance of wearing helmets. Vellore district collector Mr. R. Nandhagopal participated by joining the motorbike procession.

The awareness procession on motorcycles organized on behalf of Vellore Red Cross Society in Vellore stressed the importance of not only the 2-wheeler drivers wearing helmets but also the necessity for the pillion riders also to wear helmets.

The motorcycle procession, which started from the Chelliamman Temple near the new bus terminus, was flagged of by the collector’s wife, Ms. Thamizhchelvi.

Collector Mr. Nandhagopal presided over the occasion and drove a motorcycle himself. Deputy collector Ajay Srinivasan, Red Cross Society Vice-president Venkatasubbu, Treasureer Pandian, NCC 10th Battalion Subedar Surendranath, Public Relations Officer Raja, and others participated.

The motorbikes procession, which started from Chelliamman temple, moved via Chennai-Bangalore Service Road, Collector Office, Chennai Silks, National Theatre, Katpadi Road, Anna Salai, Tirupathi Devsathanam Information Centre and reached Netaji Grounds.

Red Cross Society members, college students (boys & girls), NCC students, and public joined in the procession.

Red Cross President Ms. Suseela Sryaprakash, Vice-president Mr. Udayashankar, Assistant Secretary Ms. Parvatha, Coucillor Ms. Ushanandini and several others participated.
