Tamil Nadu Housing Board (TNHB) has made the announcement for sales of 2200 houses/flats at 7 different locations in Chennai Metro City including Velachery, Ambattur, and Villivakkam.
TNHB housing projects have been divided into Besant Nagr, Nandanam, Anna Nagar, K K Nagar, J J Nagar, and Special Plan-1.
TNHB plans to demolish the existing old constructions and build new ones.
Further, TNHB plans to take up construction of new houses in the empty lands under its possession.
TNHB officials are awaiting government approval for these projects to kick-start them.
Details of 2232 houses:
- 60 Houses in Indira Nagar for middle-income group in the Besant Nagar Division
- 24 houses in Velachery
- 384 houses for low-income group in Ramapuram in K K Nagar Division.
- 48 houses for middle-income group near Kodambakkam Railway Station.
- 16 Houses for high-income group & 308 Houses for middle-income group in Amabattur in J J Nagar Division
- 336 houses for low-income group in Korattur in Anna Nagar Division
- 222 houses for low-income group in Villivakkam under Special Plan-1
- 510 houses for low-income group in Maha Kavi Bharathiyar Nagar
TNHB has commenced with the application forms for purchase of these houses which are being built under self-financing scheme.
The applications are available in the respective Divisions mentioned above from Rs. 225/- to Rs. 350/-.
TNHB has announced that the filled up applications should be submitted before 22nd January.
It is worth mentioning that during recent times, TNHB has shown more interest in self-financing schemes. This recent announcement is also under self-financing. Questions are being raised whether the constructions will be completed as per schedule or whether these projects will be given the same degree of importance after the Assembly elections.
