The residents of an entire village located near Dharmapuri have embarked on a religious pilgrimage to Tirupathi for a Darshan of the Lord Venkateswara after a gap of 20 years by travel in 15 buses.
As almost all the houses and shops are closed, the entire village wears a completely deserted looks!
The village, ‘Mukkalnaickenpatti;, comes under the boundaries of Adhiyaman Kottai, Dharmapuri.
The people belonging to the different local regions of Mukkalnaickenpatti, including Mukkalnacikenpatti, Aalivayankottaai, Melrajathoppu, Keezhrajathoppu, Nariankottaai, and Gandhinagar, totaling around 800, started for Tirupathi on Monday, 4th January by 15 buses.
The last similar pilgrimage of the entire village was organised around 20 years ago.
The villagers informed that the opportuninity for this trip has occurred due to the divine blessings of Lord Thiruvenkataperuman.
The whole village is empty with no movements. All houses & shops remain closed.
Only those families who raise cattle have left behind one or 2 persons to take care of the cattle.
Ms. Gomathi, a resident of the village Muthunaickenpatti, informed that she had been in a similar pilgrimage to Tirupathi 20 years ago when she was a kid. Now, after the long gap of 20 years, with the blessings of Lord Sri Venkatesaperumal, all of them have undertaken this trip to Tirupathi.
She said, “The priest of the village, Mr. Chinnasamy, will inform about the visit calling & visiting every house in the village. There is also a traditions of saving money for this purpose in a ‘hundi’ (piggy-bank). As we have cattle, I have not joined this pilgrimage.”
“The return date of the pilgrims cannot be told as it depends on the visit to Tirupathi & time taken for Darshan. It may even atake a week. Till this period, Adhiyamankottai Police will provide security.
