‘Mahasivarathri’ Festival at Thiruvannamamali Lord Arunachaleeswara Temple

lights at nightThe Hindu auspicious occasion of ‘Mahasivarathri’ is being celebrated at the famous Lord Arunachaleeswarar temple in Thiruvannamalai on 7thMarch.

 

 

 

At 5.00 AM on 6th March, ‘Latcharchana’ will be performed in the Sannidhi’ (Sanctum Sanctorum) of Lord Arunachaleeswarar. About a lakh lamps will be lit across the interior corridors of the famous temple.

 

 

 

Devotees will be allowed to have Darshan of this reare occasion.

 

At 8.30 PM, ‘Mudhal Kala Poojai’ will be performed.

 

At 11.00 PM, ‘Irandam kala poojai’ will be performed.

 

At 12.00 midnight, ‘Moondram kala poojai’ will be performed.

 

At 4.00 AM the next day, ‘Nangam Kala Poojai’ will be performed.

 

A special ‘Abhishekham’ will be performed on the idol of ‘Lingotsava Murthy’ situated in the backside of Lord Arunachaleeswarar’s sanctum sanctorum (sannidihi).

 

Further, from 6.00 AM, chanting of the poems from ‘Devaram’, music, and dane performances, etc will be performed at the front of the ‘Rajagopuram’ along with a ‘Nadaswaram’ concert by 108 Nadaswaram & ‘Dhavil’ players.
