Tamil Month ‘Masi’ – Festival at Sabarimalai – Flag-hoisting ceremony on 14th March

27 SwamiDuring the period of each Tamil calendar month, the corridors of the famous Sabarimalai temple are opened and some special Pooja are performed on Lord Ayyappa.

 

 

 

 

 

Currently, it is the Tamil month of Masi. For the Masi month festival, the corridors of Sabarimalai temple will be opened at 5.00 PM on 13th March.

 

On 13th evening, only Deeparadhanai will be performed on Lord ayyapa. No other special poojas will be performed.

 

The corridors of the temple will be opened by 5.30 AM on 14th March.

 

Special ‘Homam’ will be performed.

 

Following this, flag-hoisting ceremony for the ‘Masi month festival’ will be performed between 10.20 AM & 11.00 AM.

 

The flag-hoisting ceremony will be performed under the leadership of tantri Kandararu Magesh Mohanaru.

 

After this, Masi festival is performed.

 

‘Utsava Bali’ will be performed from 15th March tiill 22nd March.

 

During this period, ‘Nei (ghee) Abhishekham will be performed on Lord Ayyappa.

 

‘Utsava Bali’ is performed between 11.30 AM & 2.30 PM.

 

On 22nd March night, Lord Ayyappa will be carried to Sarankuthi for ‘Pallivettai’.

 

The next day on 23rd March, ‘Aarattu’ will be performed on Lord Ayyappa at Pampa river.

 

After the conclusion of Masi month festival, the temple corridors will be closed.
