Private schools told to admit poor students against 25% quota

righttoeducationAccording to Right To Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act Collector P. Sankar said the government has released orders that all private schools should admit students belonging to the poor, weaker and disadvantaged sections in the entry level class.

District administration received complaints from the public about some private schools not issuing the relevant application forms for admission. Legal action would be taken against schools which fail to take steps to admit students against this quota.

The application forms can also be downloaded from the website, www.teachertn.com and www.padasalai.net and the completed applications sent to the respective schools before 5 p.m. on May 9.

If there are any difficulties in obtaining the application forms from schools, the public could contact the Inspector of Matriculation Schools (04175-235980) or the Chief Education Officer (0416-2252690) for redressal of their grievances, the Collector said.
