Solar power generation

solarEntrepreneurs are eligible for 25 per cent subsidy to a maximum of Rs. 25 lakh for setting up units for manufacture of solar power equipment or solar power generation.

The New Entrepreneur-cum-Enterprise Development Scheme (NEEDS) of the government, according to N. Jayapalan, General Manager of the District Industries Centre (DIC), Vellore.

The solar power which at present was Rs. 8 to Rs. 15 per kilowatt hour as against that of thermal energy (Rs.1.20 to Rs.2.50 per kw/hr), hydel energy (Rs.0.50 to Rs.1.00) and wind energy (Rs.2.80 to Rs.3.80), would drastically come down by 2015.
