Makkal Auto, a newly launched service in the city, has come out with digital meter and optimum-level technology that will make auto ride more pleasurable and safe.
On Tuesday, Makkal Auto proprietor Mansoor Ali Khan said an online meter system would be introduced for autorickshaws for the first time in the country, along with a host of other unique and novel features in the three-wheelers. It will also be the first computerised autorickshaw service that will also have services meant exclusively for women.’
The auto meter comprised an android-based tablet PC enclosed in a steel casing that would be waterproof, tamperproof and theft resistant. The tablet PC would be fitted inside the vehicle with a 90 degree rotation accessible by the driver and passenger. The device acts as fare calculator, with the capacity to calculate even complex fares such as packages. .
The device would also be equipped with GPS tracking, 3G data communication with a centralised call centre and voice communication with the potential passenger/call centre/police station
It will also comprise a CCTV camera with voice system and panic button in case of emergency. Video entertainment will also be available while on the move. Passengers will be able to swipe their credit/debit cards to pay the fare.
The tablet PC will also relay instant social messages on the screen (blood requirements, missing people and traffic information). With a Google map integration facility, bookings and customer details such as pickup address will also be received on the screen.Multi-lingual options are also planned.
