Tamil Nadu Cheif Minister Jayalalithaa will launch the civic body’s scheme to serve chapati and dal for dinner in Amma canteens across the city’s 200 wards from 6pm to 9pm.
The government announced last May that dinner would be introduced at the canteens for 3. However, the plan was postponed after a delay in procuring chapati-making machines. “More than 4 lakh chapattis will be served at 200 canteens through 15 centralized kitchens” an official said.
