University teachers should involve themselves in voluntary service and be models to the students, said P. Gunasekharan, Vice-Chancellor of Thiruvalluvar University, Vellore.
Inaugurating the one-day workshop for the Programme Officers of the University’s Youth Red Cross (YRC) unit on the University campus recently, Dr. Gunasekharan wanted the teachers to develop their skills in education and research.He assured the help of the University administration in obtaining the grants.

Veeramani, Syndicate Member and Head of the Department of Economics of the Thiruvalluvar University, explained the history of the International Red Cross movement and Jean Henry Dunant, the founder of the movement.K. Ameenal Beevi, Professor, D.K.M. College for Women, Vellore, spoke of the objectives and structure of the IRCS. A.J. Christopher, Professor, Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur, spoke on disaster management, while S. Sahayaraj, Professor of Commerce, Gudiyatham spoke on ‘Positive Mental Attitude for Youth.’
C. Dhandapani, Associate Professor of Economics and YRC Coordinator of Thiruvalluvar University and R. Jagadeesan, National Service Scheme Coordinator of the University participated.
