A meeting for addressing the grievances of farmers was conducted n the office of Thiruvannamalai Taluk yesterday (Wednesday, 4th February).
Complaints:
- The road behind the Thiruvannamalai Taluk Office leading to Farmer’s Fair site is very dirty. It is difficult for the farmers to go through this road to buy vegetables. Also, there are prospects of infection for diseases.
- There is a shortage for urea fertiliser in the district. Private agencies hoard the item and sell at higher prices. Probe must be conducted.
- 100-days Job scheme is implemented in a few villages only. It should be implemented in all villages.
- Government should encourage drip irrigation system.
- The Land occupation Law is against the interests of the farmers. It mus be withdrawn immediately.
- There are 10 open wells in the road from Nayudumangalam to Aarppakkam. They must be closed.
