As per the orders of Vellore Collector, Mr. R. Nandhagopal andDeputy Transport Commissioner, Mr. Sridhar, vehicle inspection was carried out under the leadership of Transport Department official, Mr. Prasanna. Vehicle checks were carried out by a team of 4 in the areas of Vellore, Katpadi, Palayam, and surroundings during the period 1st January till 31st January.
328 vehiles were tested and reports prepared.
Pending Tax amount of Rs,2,29,450/- was collected.
Fines were imposed for traffic rule violations by 96 vehicles and an amount of Rs. 6,07,700/- was collected as fines. A total opf Rs. 8,97,670/- was collected as fine payment.
Other district transport departments were informed about hthe outstanding payment for 49 vehicles at Rs. 2,09,300/-.
64 vehicles were carrying overloads. 66 vehicles did not have proper driving licence. 14 vehicles were without proper permit.Cases were registered on them.
37 vehicles were confiscated for carrying more passengers in goods trucks, 15 good trucks without permit, 1 auto, 1 omni, 1 van, 1 car, and 9 other vehicles for a total of 37. 14 vehicles were confiscated for not providing the fitness certificate for the vehicle and handed over to the police stations.
The vehicle tests will be continued. Hence, the public is advised to follow traffic rules & regulations with proper for documents and proper condition of vehicles.
