Officers conducted checks in the rations shops in Vellore yesterday (12thebruary). Hey found that the raw rise was of a very low quality with worms. They arranged to remove the sme and ordered fesh better stock and distributed to the public.
The shop no. 2, owned by the Vellore Thottapalayam Amudham special cooperative store, distributes various grocery items for over 1600 ration cards.
160 bags of raw rice had arrived at th shop for this month’s distribution. The shop employees announced that each card will get 5 kg of this raw rice.
Eager public had come to the shop to purchase the rice. However, the quality of the rice was very low in cement colour and full of worms and insects. The public asked for replacement. All the bags contained the same rotten rice. The public refused to buy and returned with disappointment.

Subsequently, checking was conducted and confirmed. They arranged immediatelt for replacement. As soon as the replacement arrived, they distributed the same for the public.
