The state secretary of the Marxist Communist Party in Tamil Nadu, Mr. G. Ramakrishnan, expressed that a new legal act should be formed against those who indulge in honour killings in Tamil Nadu.
Mr, G Ramakrishnan was visitng the CPM office at Rangapuram, Vellore. He had a session with the reporters.
There has been a large scale sand stealing in Palaru. This may lead to depletion of drinking water resources and may affect agriculture. CPM has conducted several protests/demonstrations on this issue.
The High Court has recently release certain regulations to prevent sand stealing. The state government should implement them immediately.
The central government has implemented the Land Acquisition Act.This will affect the nation’s agriculture & economy. The central government plans to acquire lands and sell them to multi-national corporations. The central government must give this up immediately and should strive for the development of the agriculturists’ welfare.
Members of the ‘Hindu Munnanai’ have entered the office of a private TV Channel and attacked the employees. This is deplorable. There has been a spurt in religious issues being forced. Recently, sales of beef was banned by the Maharashtra Sate government with the penalty of 5 years’ imprisonment against violation. This must be withdrawn.
In the last Assembly meeting, Sate Chief Minister, Mr, O. Panneerselvam, informed that there have been no honour killing in Tamil Nadu and no legal Act is required. However, there have been 4 honour killings in the last month. There have been 42 honour killings in the last 2 years. Tamil Nadu government should consider this to enact a Legal Act against honour killings.
Sari Lanka PM has told that Indian fishermen will be shot at if they cross the border. This is not fair. Central government should take immediate action to find a better and permanent solution to the fishermen issue.
Recently, an agriculture department engineer committed suicide by plunging in front of moving train. It is rumoured that Agri Krishnamurthy may be the reson behind this. CBI must take up an immediate enquiry on this suicide.
