Bus-/Lorry Owners donated Rs. 1.05 Lakhs to VIT Chancellor, Mr. G. Viswanathan for the purification project of Palaru under the jurisdiction of Vellore Corporation and the VIT Green Vellore Project.
VIT university has taken up with government permission the task of removing all unwanted growth of plants in Palaru in the area where it crosses Vellore city and levelling up for better absorption of ground water.
Invitation was given to the Vellore public and service organisations for donations for this project.
Vellore district Bus owners’ Association donated Rs. 50000/-.
Vellore Lorry Owners Association donated Rs. 25000/-.
3 private bus corporations donated Rs. 10000/- each.
Senior local officials attended the function.
