Opposition to setting up a waste godown at Puthur Administration: Groundwater level in villages will be affected!

The public submitted a petition to the Vellore district collector opposing the plan to set up a waste godown by the Puthur Administration. They were anxious that this will greatly affect the groundwater level in the nearby villages.A public grievance meeting was conducted yesterday (Monday, 24th March) at Vellore Collector’s Office.

557 petitions were received covering various issues such as Senior citizen pension, differently-abled assistance, widows’ assistance, ration card issues, drinking water issues, etc.

On receipt of the petitions, Vellore Collector ordered the relevant department officials to take action.

Petitions:

  • People from the village of Budhar Nagr, Ambur Pallikkuppam, Madhanur Cooperative complained that some people have been blocking the progress of arrangement of drinking water by drilling deep bore-wells. They use it for bathing & washing aand waste the water. Action must be taken to ensure drinking water to the villagers.
  • In the petition given by the villagers from Puthur, Ammundi,   Yeranthangal, Karanampattu, lakshmipuram, and Sevur, a waste godown is proposed to be st up near Theertah Amman Koil in Lakshmipuram village by Puthur village administration.  This will affect the agriculture. Also, there is a leprosy hospital in this area and the wastage from the proposed godown may affect the doctors and the public.Groundwater leve3l in the nearby areas will also affected. Hence this proposal should be cancelled.
  • Public from the village of K V Kuppam section in Katpadi Taluk gave a petition to introduce LSS (Limited Stop Service) buses via K V Kuppam to Gudiyatham.This will be beneficial to the entire local public.

Ms. Meena from Sathuvachary was given Rs. 18559/- under the CM’s Womwn Protection Scheme. Ms. Dhanalakshmi from Arkonam was given Rs. 16346/-. Ms. Amudha from Vaniyambadi was given Rs. 19,707/-.Ms. Chithra from Arcot was given Rs. 18238/-. Rs. 15000/- was given to the family of Ulema Welfare Board member Syed Ashfaq1 Hussai, who died a natural death.

28 personbs were given a total of Rs. 3.31 Lakhs to start self-business under the Vellore District New Life Plan for the differently-abled and the down-trodden.
