A rare incident of sunlight falling on the main deity in the ;Lingam’ form at the ‘Arulmigu Akilandeswari sametha Agatheeswarar temple sanctum sanctorum in the village of Vinnampalli near Thiruvalam occurred on Mopnday, 6thApril
This rare event has been occurring annually between 6.25 AM & 6.45 AM during the period from 23rd of Tamil Month Panguni for the next 7 days over the last 1000 years!
Traversing the nandhi Mandapam & front Mandapam sections of the temple, and entering the 3rd internal section of the temple, the sunlight beam fell on the main deity of Lingam from 6.25 AM till 6.45 AM. Hundreds of devotees had the Darshan of this rare incident.
This rare phenomenon of sunlight beam falling on the main deity of Lingam will occur till 12th of this month.
The temple administration has made special arrangements for the devotees for this special and rare occurrence & Darshan.
This 1000 years-ld Agatheeswarar temple is located at the Chennai-Mumbai National Highwayat 23 km distance from Vellore.
The temple is under the control of the Hindu Religious Endowment Board.
The phenomenon of sunlight falling on the main deity of Lingam has been occurring when Lord Surya (Sun God) from Dakshinayana period to Utharayana period. The mythology records that Srya, the Sun God, comes in a &-horses driven chariot to come & perform special prayers on Lord Siva. Having the Darshan of the Lord Siva with the sunlight falling will remove all the sins & evil deeds done by an individual in his 7 births!
