IPL league Match – CSK Vs Delhi Daredevils – CSK scores a thrilling win in the last ball!

ipl leaguePlaying their first match at their local ground after 2 years’ break, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won the IPL league match in the last over scoring a thrilling victory.

Batsman Albie Morkel, needing to hit a six off the last ball for a win, count manage only a boundary for 4 runs! Thus, Delhi Daredevils lsot this match by the narrowest margin!

The match was played at the Chennai Chepauk grounds on Thursday, 9thApril. Delhi team won the toss and elected to field. In the first over bowled by Albie Morkel, opening batsman Dwayne Smith scored 3 boundaries with the Chennai crowd responding with whistles. However, the other opener, New Zealand captain, Brendon McCullum, decided to attack (like he did in the recent World Cup Cricket Final in Australia), and scored a boundary through an edged shot. He tried to hit the next ball as well but edged a catch that was going o the wicketkeeper.  However, Yuvaraj Singh n the slips caught it.

 Recently married star batsman, Suresh Raina, failed to focus on the ball and got out bowled.

Dwayne Smith combined in a partnership with DuPlessy and score runs at every opportunity. However, while trying to hit a 6 off Imran Tahir delivery, he gave a catch in the deep wicket area and got out after scoring 34.

DuPlessey & jadeja stayed together for some time. DuPlessey gave a catch while trying to hit a 6 after scoring 32. Skipper Dhoni joined jadeja. In the 16th over bowled by Amit Misra, Jadeja got out stumped aftr scoring 17. Then, Dwayne Bravo was out lbw.

Aswin joinmed Dhoni. They could not score quick runs.

However, Dhoni came to form in the last over. He scored 2 sixers and got out while trying to hit another. Dhoni scored 30 runs off 27 balls.

CSK scored 150 for 7 wickets in 20 overs. Nathan Nice took 3 wickets for delhi tem.

CSK opening bowler Ashish Nehra dismissed 2 Delhi batsman, Mayank Agarwal (15) and Chidambaram Gautham (4). Nehra dismissed batsman Shreyas Iyer in his next  over. Delhi was struggling at 39 for 3 wickets.

Kedhar jadhav & Albie Morkel came together and started increasing the run rate. They scored 48 runs for the 4th Wicket partnership. Kedhar Jadhav got out after scoring 20. Albie Morkel was scoring steadily. However, Yuvaraj Singh gotout to a short ball after scoring only 7 runs.

Delih captain joined the middle when 52 runs were needed of 33 balls. However, Duminy got out, edging a ball on to his stumps. Aswin dismissed the next batsman Nice clean bowled.  Amit Misra was run out in the next over.

Dlehi required 19 runs from the last over. Dwayne Bravo bowled the last over. The first ball was hit for a 4. 1 run was scored off the next ball. Imran Tahir got out from the 3rd ball. Morkel scored a 6 of the 4th ball. Morkel managed 2 runs of the 5th ball. 6 runs were required off the last ball of the match!

Morkel had a mighty swing at the last ball trying to hit a 6 in the ‘long-off’ direction. However, the ball landed within the boundary line and only 4 runs could be scored.

Thus, Chennai team won by 1 run!

Morkel, who fought single-handedly, scored 73 not out off 55 balls. As the victory was so near, the Delhi team were not dejected too much. Nehra was declared the Manof the match!
