Widespread rains in Vellore District

rainnThere was widespread rain in Vellore on Wednesday as well. As it remained cloudy in the afternoon, the intensity of heat was less with cool wind blowing.

It rained heavily during the early morning.

The record of rainfall in the district in mm:

Arcot – 69.4, Ambur – 6.6, Vellore -10.5, Vaniyambadi – 3.2, Kaveripakkam – 3, Wallaja – 11.2, Thirupathur -5.1.

Stagnant water in National Highway

 

Public faced  a lot of hardship because of the stagnant rain water in the National Highway near Ambur.

There have heavy rains in the evenings for the last 3 days in Ambur area. After Monday night’s heavy rains, streets & roads were flooded with water.

Water was stagnating in the Solur Highway (near Ambur) to assize of a pond. The vhicle drivers and the pedestrians found it difficult to corss the stagnant area.

As stagnant water in the National Highway is likely to damage the road as well increase the chances of accidents, the  public expects the Highway Department personnel to take immediate suitable action.

Public block roads!

As water was stagnate at different areas near the new Railway overbridge in Ambur Exterior Road, the local public blocked the roads in protest on Wednesday, 15th April.

 

Because of the overbridge work from Ranipet to Arcot, over 150 families were evacuated from the area near Ranipet railway station and shifted to Arcot Periya Kummadam Exterior Road and are living here.

 

With Wednesday’s heavy rains, water was stagnanat at height of 2’ in the hutment area. Ths greatly disturbed the routine life of the local residents. They indulged ina road block in the National Highway protesting against the absence of basic facilties like road & drinking water.

 

On receipt of information, the police squad reached the spot and promised action to remove the stagnant water. The local crowd dispersed after this. However, the traffic was disturbed for 1 hour.
