With bird-flu spreading quite fast in Andhra Pradesh, Vellore, located in AP border, is in the ‘alert’ mode. The veterinary (especially cattle) specialists in testing labs have taken precautionary action.
Cattle Veterinarians team has undertaken ins[ection toru to the Andhra border villages like Serkadu, Christianpettai, Baharatahrami, and Sainagunta (near Gudiyatham) from Wednesday, 15th April.
The team comprises of 1 veterinary doctor, 2 analysts, and 2 assistants. They check all the vehicles coming from Andhra spray a special disinfectant which kills the bacteria causing bird-flu on the tyres and the exterior of the vehicles.
They have banned movement of chicken, eggs, and animal feeds from Andhra to Vellore and Vellore to other places. The meat from Andhra Pradesh is also banned.
When checking with the cattle department officials, they informed that this precautionary activity will continue till bird-flu is removed completely in Andhra state.
