Gudiyatham Taluk Police Station: functioning without inspector for 4 months! Public request for action!

There is a situation where Gudiyatham Taluk Police Station has been functioning without an inspector over the last 4 months!

Hence, the public have put up a request to take immediate action to appoint an inspector in the police station!

There is a police station in Gudiyatham Taluk. This police station is intended to cover a very wide area under its control.

From Morthana, 25 km distance from Palamanore road till Sainagunda, Netteri, 10 km across the Vellore Road, and Kuttaimedu, 8 km across Pernampattu Road are under this Gudiyatham Taluk Police station jurisdiction/boundaries.

Alanganallur, located at 10 km distance, Ulli Village, located at 5 km distance, Kottaramadugu, located 11 km across Sempalli Road are also lying under its jurisdiction.

In essence, Gudiyatham Taluk police station covers security for over 1 lakh people in 110 villages.

The police station lies adjacent to the Andhra State Border.

This gives an idea about the significance & importance of the police station.

However, the number of policemen working in the police station is hardly justifying the ratio of people under its protection!

There are 26 posts meant for this police station including Inspector, Sub-inspectors, and constables.

However, only 18 posts remain filled.

The ratio of policemen to the population under its control is quite low.

The existing police will have to adjust performing various duties including night patrol, taking prisoners to court, etc.

Most notably, the police station has been functioning without an inspector over the last 4 months.

Inspector Santhalingam, who was in charge, was transferred to another police station.

After that, no one has been appointed.

Gudiyatham Police station is among the most important ones in Vellore district.

As it is without an inspector, inspectors functioning in other police stations such as K V Kuppam, Pernampattu, Gudiyattam town. And All-women police stations take responsibility.

This responsibility is in addition to the duties of their own police stations!

There is no direct sub-inspector as well in this police station!

So, several cases have been kept pending or enquiries are being delayed.

The public have put up a request to Vellore DIG Tamilchandran and District Police superintendent Senthilkumari to take special personal interest and take immediate action to appoint an inspector in Gudiyatham Taluk Police station.
