The breaking of a railing of the foot-over-bridge is not a reason for the Allahabad stampede says Union Railway Minister Mr. Pavan Kumar Bansal.
He responded to queries in the wake of a stampede in Allahabad Railway Station in which 36 people were killed and more critically injured. ‘Efforts are now on to bring back people from Allahabad and the Railways is exploring possibilities of pressing more special trains after diverting from other areas.My information is the railing of the FOB has not been broken. Our effort is to make arrangement to take people out of Allahabad for which we are making efforts to press into service more special trains from Allahabad’, said Mr. Bansal.
Sunday saw lakhs of people at the station, to visit the Maha Kumbh Mela on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya (Thai Amavasai) which is considered to be an auspicious day.
