Lakhs of chicken died recently in Andhra & Telengana Sates. This has led to a fall in egg production in the country as a whole!
Naturally, the price of egg has started soaring!
Even in Namkkal region, famous for poultries, the procurement price has rocketed and fixed at 402 Paise per egg.
As per the meeting of the National Egg Cooperative Committee conducted at Namakkal yesterday (Monday, 15th June), a decision was taken to increase this by 9 more Paise. Thhus, the price per egg got fixed at 411 Paise.

Chennai – 440, Hyderabad – 387, Vijayawada, Tanugu – 382, Parwala – 353, Mumbai – 426, Mysore – 424, Bengaluru – 420, Kolkata – 407, Delhi – 363
Chicken meat was being sold at Rs. 93/- per kg. As per the decision taken during the meeting of Chicken meat Cooperative Committee conducted at Palladam, this was reduced by Rs. 3/- per kg. Hence, the price of chicken meat stood at Rs. 90/- per kg.
Egg-laying hens are sold at Rs. 69 per kg. There has been no change in this price!
The maximum procurement price of egg at Namakkal is 403 Paise.
This rate was fixed during November, 2013.
Currently, the procurement price of egg has soared unprecedentedly and has touched a new peak, poultry owners are delighted.
It was interesting to observe that in one of the poultry farms in Namkkal, 411 eggs were stacked together indicative of the recently fixed price per egg!
