Vellore district collector has informed that students (boys & girls) from minority communities can apply for scholarships/financial assistance for their higher education.

Students (boys & girls) belonging to minority communities such as Christians, Muslims, Sokhsd, Parsis, & Jain communities studying courses like +1, +2, ITI, ITC, Polytechnic, undergraduate courses, post-graduate courses in government, government-aided or government-approved educational institutes can apply for scholarship or financial assistance on pursuing their study.
They can apply under the Higher Education Financial Assistance Scheme on the internet on the new website for the academic year 2015-16 –www.scholarship.gov.in
The deadline for fresh applications is 15th September. The deadline for renewal of scholarships is 10th October.
Central government has set the target for the academic year 2015-16 to give financial assistance/scholarships to 18989 students in Tamil Nadu.
To qualify to avail this scholarship, the student should have scored 50% in the last year public examination. The annual income of students’ parents or guardians should not exceed Rs. 2 Lakhs.

Apply online. Upload all the attachments.. Finally, download the complete setoff the registered application, sign it. Attach mark certificate, religion-proof certificate, income certificate obtained from income0-tax department, receipt for payment of fees, residence proof, and savings account number details and submit in the respective schools, educational institutions before 15th September for fresh applications and before 10th October for renewal of applications.
As the scholarship amount will be directly debited to the student’s bank savings account, the bank details and code should be correctly filled.
If bank details are wrongly given, the application for scholarships may be rejected.
All educational; institutions should periodically monitor the applications for scholarship received. They should forward the approved applications to the office of the Backward & minority community development in the Collector Office Complex before 5th October for fresh applications and before 31stOctober for renewal applications.
For the students who study technical education courses, the deadline for applications online is 30th September. Deadline for renewal of applications is 15th November. Hence, students are instructed to rgister their application online, download, attach all required proofs/certificates, and submit the same to their respective schools before 30th September for fresh applications and before 15th November for renewal applications.
Educational institutes should periodically cheack the received applications and forward the approved applications before 20th October for fresh applications and before 25th November for for renewal applications.
Thus, minority community students can avail this scholarship facility and benefit.
