A meeting was organised on behalf of th Agricultural sales & trading association for all framers/agriculturists and traders yesterday (Thursday, 9th July) at the office of Agriculture sales.
Vellore collector Mr. R. Nandhagopal presided and addressed the gathering.
The cooperative Sales Union was started in 1953 and is now functioning as Vellore Sales group.
12 regulated sales outlets are functioning under this union.
12 agricultural products grown in the district is sold through indirect auction. To facilitate the farmers to store thane products in the warehouses, 20 Paise is charged per quintal and for traders, the rate is 40 Paise per day for 120 days.
Farmers who sell more than 1 ton of their produce in a year in these regulated price outlets will be given an accident insurance cover of up to Rs. 1 Lakh
He requested the farmers to make the best use of this facility.
