After Budget: Items Costlier & Items Cheaper

Budget 2016_logoWith the upward revision of taxes in the recent budget, the prices of some of the items are changed.

 

 

 

The central government Finance Minister Mr. Arun Jaitely presented the budget for 2016-17 in the parliament yesterday (Monday, 29th February).

 

 

 

 

Items which will be costlier:

All tobacco items except beedis will be taxed additional 10% to 5% tax. So, Cigarettes, Kutkas, Pan-masala and other tobacco items will become costlier.

 

The tax for the diesel-driven cars is up by 2.5%. The tax for luxury cars is up by 4%. So, Luxury & SUV cars will be costlier.

 

The Kalal Tax on all jewellery items except silver is up by 1%. So, gold & Platinum jewellery will cost extra.

 

Cool drinks will cost 3% more.

 

As the production/manufacture tax is up, the prices of branded & ready-made cloth items will be up from Rs. 1000/- onwards.

 

As service tax is revised upwards, food items in star hotels and air-flight tickets will become costlier.

 

Aluminium foil, solar water heater, lottery tickets, e-reading device, imported golf-cars, and gold slabs will be costlier.

 

Items which will be cheaper

As tax exemption is granted to all equipment related to dialysis treatment, these equipment will be cheaper.

 

The prices of refrigerator container, microwave oven, Braille Paper, Sanitary Pad, Footwear, Solae lamps, Broadband Modem, and Set-top Box will be cheaper.

 

The prices of recorder & CCTV cameras will also reduce.

 

Modernised electric cars and low-priced houses below 60 sq m carpet area will be cheaper.
