The Vellore police have formed 13 teams to crackdown on prohibition offences. The teams had carried out intensive raids against prohibition and registered 84 cases till now.
Teams were formed under the supervision of P. K. Senthilkumari, Superintendent of Police, Vellore and led by Ashok Kumar, Additional Superintendent of Police, Prohibition Enforcement Wing (PEW).
The teams had conducted intensive raids from December 9 – 11 across the district. It had registered 84 cases and nabbed 84 offenders. They have been sent to judicial custody.
During the raids, nearly 1,500 litres of illicit and 600 litres of fermented wash were seized and destroyed by the teams.
The crackdown will continue.
