Astrosat send the first message about space

1015770918The recently launched satellite, Astrosat, has sent the first message to ISRO (Indian Space research Organization).

 

 

The first message was sent from the Cadmium Zinc Telluride imager device which analyses powerful X-rays.

ISRO officials confirmed after the receipt of this 1st message that all the instruments & devices in Astrosat are functioning well.

This imager fitted in Astrosat was activated on Monday, 5th October.

Astrosat, India’s first space research satellite was launched on 28th September through PSLV-C30 Rocket into space.

ISRO has confirmed that all the devices & instruments in Astrosat are functioning properly.

Astrosat satellite, weighing 1513 kg, has 5 instruments which conduct rsearch on space weighing 800 kg each.

Among these 5 devices, the powerful detector of X-rays & Gamma rays, Cadmium Zinc Telluride Imager was activated first.

The next instrument to be activated will be LAXBC – Large Area X-ray Proportional Counter.

The other 3 instruments in Astrosat are:

UVIT – Ultra Violet Imaging Telescope

SXT – Soft X-ray Telescope for analyzing the X-rays  at  larger distances

SSM – Scanning Sky Monitor for searching and analyzing the space for detecting X-rays.

All these instruments are scheduled to be activated gradually in the coming 2 months.
