Bank Employees in all India to go on Strike on 8th January

imagesTo press their demand to drop activities on their wage revision, and job concessions which are against the law taken by 5 subsidiary wings of the State Bank of India, all India bank emplyees are set to observe 1-day token strike on 8th January.

 

The General Secretary of All India Bank Employees Union, Mr. C. H> Venkatachalam, has made a press release:

An agreement was signed during May this year about the wage revision & job concessions for all bank emplyees.

 

However, violating the clauses as per this agreement, 5 subsidiary banks of the State Bank of India – State Bank of Travancore, State Bank of Hyderabad, State Bank of Bikaneer, State Bank of Mysore, and State Bnak of Patiala – decided the revised job details & wage revisions on their own.

A petition was given by the Bank Employees Union to atop this.

Following this, it was announced that there would be toke strike observed for 2 days on 1st & 2nd December on behalf of the All India Bank Employees Union.

It was announced that a discussion/negotiation would be conducted by the Central Labour Commissioner on this issue. The plan for took strike on 1st & 2nd December was given up.

However, the Management Board of the above subsidiary banks of State Bank of India refused to take back their actions which was against the law. Hence, All Indian Bank Employees Union has now decided to observe a token 1-day strike on 8th January.

If there are any disruptions to the banking business on this strike day, the 5 state banks would be deemed responsible. Around 350000 bank employees are likely to participate in this token 1-day strike on 8th January.
