BCCI: T-20 World Cup wmatches to be played in 8 places!

world1BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) has announced that T-20 World Cup will be conducted in India next year.2016. The matches will be played in 8 places including Chennai & Bengaluru.

T-20 World Cup tournament has been organized from 2007.

In the introductory year 2007, it was conducted in South Africa when India, led by M S Dhoni won. Pakistan won in 2009. England won in 2010. West Indies won in 2012.

In the last world T-20 cup conducted in Bangladesh in 2014, Sri Lanka won.

The 5th T-20 World Cup tournament will be conducted in India in 2016 from 11th March till 3rd April.

This is the 1st time when T-20 World Cup is played in India.

BCCI announced the places where the matches will be played: Chennai, Bengaluru, Dharmasala (Himachal Pradesh), Mohali (Punjab), Mumbai, Nagpur (Maharashtra), Delhi, and Kolkata.

The final will be played at Kolkata, which is one pf the largest stadiums in the world.

Eden Garden Ground In Kolkata can accommodate 66000 people. One-day World Cup Final in 1987 and the semi-final match in 1996 World Cup were played here.

16 teams are participating in the T-20 tournament. 10 countries qualified to play Test matches are directly into the tournament. The balance 6 teams will be decided though round-robin matches.

BCCI Secretary, Mr. Anuraag Thakur spoke to the press reporters. Cities with full facilities capable of organizing international matches, were selected for conducting T-20 World Cup matches.He believed that it would be a memorable occasion for both the teams and the spectators.

One semi-final match will be played in Mumbai. The other semi-final match will be played in Delhi. In case it turns out that this semi-final could not be played in Delhi, an important match like India-Pakistan may be played in Delhi. India would be playing its match against one of the 6 qualifying teams in Dharmasala.
