Brahmotsava Chariot Festival at Vallimalai Sri Subramanya Swami temple commences with sacred flagpole hoisting ceremony!

The grand Brahmotsava Chariot procession festival is the most important annual event of the historic and famous Vallimalai Sri Subramanya Swami Temple.

Commencing this festival for this year, Vinayaka festival was celebrated day-before-yesterday (23rd February). ‘Mooshika Vahana Ratha Utsavam’ (Chariot procession of Lord Vinayaka with his vahana’, the mouse) was performed in the night.

Yesterday (Tuesday, 24th February), the sacred flagpole hoisting ceremony was perfomed in the morning.

There are several programmes scheduled for every day & night during this festival period.

The most important event of the festival, the chariot procession, is scheduled on 1st March.

Ratha Utsava is performed for 3more days on 2nd, March till 4th March.

The divine marriage of Lord Muruga and Valliammai will be performed and celebrated on 5th March morning.

‘Pinakku Theerkum Utsavam’ (Problem solving episode festical) will be performed in the night.

On the morning of 6th March, 108 ‘’Sangu Abhishekham’ (special Pooja with conches) will be performed.

Arrangements have been made to run more buses from different locations. The Hindu Religious Endowment personnel, the festival committee members, and the community members are organising the festival.
