The courts in Tamil Nadu were functioning in 3 groups and were struggling to clear the cases fast. As a step towards expediting, the high court had ordered the construction of a new court complex. Presently, some judges stay in rented houses finding it difficult to pass judgements. With the new construction, this will be avoided.
Tamil Nadu has been leading in passing verdicts in cases while at the same time, it has also got the maximum pending cases of around 47,959. This is because, the public seek redress through courts. With cases mounting on daily basis, the number of pending cases is quite large.
In order to reduce this settlement meetings arre arranged by high court judges and also peoples’ court. Many cases have been settled in Tamil Nadu through peoples’ coutrt.
There are 51 judges allotted for Vellore district out of which 11 posts lie vacant. High court is expediting the appointment of new judges. Action will be expedited to clear the large pending cases.
Jusge Sudhakar explained in his address that there are more female judges in North India. In Tamil Nadu, there are more female judges in Trichy district. Tamil Nadu women have developed prominence in several fields such as education, medical science, social service, etc. We should help them to be prominent in the field of law as well.
There are courts in the Taluks of Ambur, Arkonam, and Katpadi in Vellore district. However, there a re no courts in Vaniyambadi & Arcot. Courts will be set up before the end of next year.
If the courts start functioning 24 hours just like the police department, the number of pending cases will come down quickly.
