Traffic Policemen perform their duty under the hot sun during summer in the traffic junctions.

During the year 2012, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa introduced the scheme to offer lemon juice for the traffic police on duty.

As per this, lemon juice is being served to the traffic police on duty 4 times in a day for 4 months.

Some of the traffic policemen expressed their preference for buttermilk.

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa accepted this and ordered that either lemon juice or buttermilk as per the preferences should be served to the traffic police on duty 4 times a day from March till June end.

As the effect of this year’s summer is already being felt, in order to facilitate the traffic police to perform their duty without much discomfort, the Chief Minister has ordered that they should be served lemon juice or buttermilk from 21st February (Yesterday, Sunday).
