Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa today ( Oct 08,2013) sanctioned a financial grant of Rs. 17.06 crore for setting up “smart classrooms” and towards purchase of geographical maps in schools run by the Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare department.
As part of this initiative, 100 higher secondary schools that operate under the department would have smart classroom from this academic year, an official release said.
Similarly, for purchase of geographical maps depicting India, Tamil Nadu and local districts, Rs. 11.56 crore has been sanctioned. These maps would be used in 1,48,247 classrooms of 3,246 government schools, the release added.
