Government department of agriculture has taken up leasing of the latest agriculture machinery & equipment at subsidised rates in order to encourage agriculture

Under this scheme, Vellore district has been allotted Rs. 41 Crores.

The plan is operated under the department of agricultural engineering where village yout forums are formed.

Tractors, Rotavators, Cultivators, weed-removing machinery, seed-sowing sprayers, equipment for digging pits, sowing equipment, etc are being distributed under this scheme.

Afunction on the occasion of the release of the agricultural equipment for the village youth forums was conducted during the grievance meeting yesterday (Monday, 2nd March) at the collector’s office.

 Collector participated and distributed agricultural equipment worth Rs. 40 lakhs to 4 village youth forums from Jolarpettai, Balamathi, Kattuputhur, and Reddivalam. The subsidy is worth Rs. 32 Lakhs.

On behalf of the backward and minority community welfare development office, 28 persons from the gypsy community were given Rs. 7500/- each for a total of Rs. 2.10 Lakhs to start self-employment.

Further,17 persons were give Rs. 129 Lakhs for a total of Rs. 43.39 Lakhs  educational financial assistance from the department of differently-abled welfare, assistance for performing post death ceremonies, maternity delivery assistance, etc Collector distributed.

Ms. Nithya was offered appointment as midday nutrition food scheme organiser by the collector.

During the grievance meeting, several petitions were received.

  • Mr. Rajkumar from the village of KV Kuppam in Katpadi Taluk has stated in his petition that there are no tourist attraction spots in Vellore. Anna Arts Hall was functioning for the last 30 years as entertainment centre.

However, Ann Arts Arangam has not been screening movies since the last few years.Enquiries revealed that the projector is under repair.I request that immedicate action to be taken to restore this to facilitate the poor people to enjoy movies back at Anna Arts Arangam.

  • A petition given by the Auto Drivers’ Association requested permission to allow autos inside the Katpadi Railway station.
