Collector: Estimates for plans to convert Vallimalai &Mahimandalam as tourist resorts at a cost of Rs. 2.5 Crores!

vallimalai1Vellore district collector Mr. R. Nandhagopal informed in the planning commission meeting that draft plans have been submitted for developing Vallimalai & Mahimandalam as tourist resorts at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.65 Crores under the balanced fund plan for development..

The 12th Planning Commission meeting was conducted yesterday (Thursday, 25th June) leadership of the Chairman Ms. Leela Subramanian. Collector Mr. Nandhagopal led the meeting.

The collector addressed the gathering:

Various development plans for improvement in the lifestyles of the poor people are in progress for the backward city/village councils/Panchayats like Kathili, Thimiri, Alangayam.

The representatives of this backward village council should be prompt in submission of drafts of various improvement plans.

Many of the draft plans are received rather late which contributes to further delay in execution.

The representatives/members are requested to send the draft proposals immediaitely (except the issue offsetting up of medical colleges). The proposals will be scrutinised immediately and sent for further action.

Requests:

  • Set up a branch of a nationalised bank in Jamunapudhur village of Thorupathur Taluk
  • Convert the Vallaimalai Murugan Temple & Mahimandalam Fort are as tourist spots (Sholinghur village development council)
  • Build an overbridge across Sampathurayanpettai & Iluppaithandavam in Sirumanamalli village council under Nemili village council.
  • Analyse the various plans for improvement of backwqard village councils/Panchayats like Thimiri, Kathili, and Alankayam.

Collectors reply:

  • Setting up of a branch of a nationalised bank in Jamunapudhur will be taken up in the next bankers’ meeting.
  • A draft plan estimated at a cost of Rs. 1.73 Crores for Mahimandalam Tourist Resort & Rs. 92 Lakhs for Vallimalai Tourist resort for infrastructure and facilities such as boarding rooms for stay, toilets, bathrooms, etc has been submitted to the Director of Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Board.
  • Awareness programmes sponsored through VIT University are being organised about the programmes approved regarding the project of more milk production at Kathili village council at a cost of Rs. 7.5 Lakhs though additional manufacture of Asola cattlefeedunder Women Development plan approved by the State Balanced Funds Development plans.
  • In these 3 village councils, plans like goats-rearing, funds for additional work on well-based irrigation sources, and poultry development plan and the 1st stage funds have been distributed.
  • .All plans & points raised & discussed during this meeting must be expedited and put to use.

All important local administration officials participated.
