Vellore district collector Mr. R. Nandhagopal has announced that backward community students who have scored excellent marks in SSLC can apply for educational financial assistance to pursue higher studies in the stae’s reputed institutions.
Details of his announcement:
10 students who have performed well in each district (3 male & 3 female students from backward community and 2 males & 2 females from the most backward community) will be selected and offered to pursue their higher studies in the educational institution of their own choice with the necessary financial assistance.
The annual income of the parents of the students should not exceed Rs. 1 Lakh. Under this scheme, each student will receive Rs. 28000/- per yesr for 2 years ( a total of Rs. 56000/-).
Educational fee – Rs. 8000/-, Maintenance Fee – Rs. 3650/-, Hostel Fees – Rs. 15000/- (for the students who will study staying in the hostel), Special training fee – Rs. 1500/- A total of Rs. 28000/- (approximated from Rs. 28150/-) is given per year for 2 years.
So, eligible and interested candidates can approach the office of the department of backward community development centre officer and apply.
