A demonstration to show how rescue efforts can be undertaken during natural disasters like earthquake, etc was conducted in the VIT University on Thursday, 16th December.
A squad from Arkonam National Disaster Force had come to VIT to attend..
First, they drilled a hole in the front of the building affected by earthquake to ascertain the location of the people trapped inside. Then, they made a triangular-shaped hole on the door. They rescued the people trapped and administered first-aid. Then, they sent them off to hospital form further medical treatment.
They rescued the people in upper floors in the multi-storeyed building and brought them down. They were given first-aid and sent to hospital.
The demonstration of natural disaster management was conducted by a team led by Commandant Varma.
Vice-president Sekhar informed that public awareness will be created about this by the disaster management centre in VIT.
Senior academicians and students participated.
