An awareness camp on Dengue fever was conducted at the Vellore Arts Centre.8 persons have been affected with Dengue fever in the Vellore Corporation area.
Hence, Vellore Mayor, Ms. Karthiyayini, who presided over the awareness camp, has asked for full public cooperation in the mosquito eradication activities.All senior officials participated.
The mayor informed that the employees who are deputed for spraying anti-mosquito repellents are not permitted in some house due to the fear of theft. These people should ensure the presence of males in the house while this activity is undertaken.
Some other people say that they will do it on their own and ask for the sprays. However, this cannot be permitted and only authorised persons should spray.
The spraying should be done in all areas including the places where the eggs/larvae of mosquitoes are present.
The spraying personnel should also make a list houses where they have been refused permission and submit the same to the concerned officers.
The officers would take the necessary steps with the coordination of the Councillors to arrange for spray.
There has been a report that 8 persons have been affected with Dengue fever during January. No deaths have been reported so far. Steps should be taken to eradicate Dengue fever thoroughly.

A city administration official informed that the houses should be maintained properly after the spray when all unwanted things had been removed. If it is found that they are back again in the house during checking, legal notice will be given to the concerned houses and drinking water connection would be cut.
