Most of us with cell-phone have the What’sApp facility
Again, most of ud do have the habit of forwarding mails received by us.This forwarding tendency has resulted in a new fraud spreading like a virus.
Look at this scenario:
A friend has sent you a message – this says that if you forward that mail/sms to 10 more persons, you can avail 10% discount on a particular brand of cool drink or 10% discount on a cinema ticket, etc.
This would naturally excite the receiver, who would forward immediately to 10 more persons attracted by these offers!
However, if you forward it, it is certain you would lose money from your bank account through mobile-phone operations within the next few hours!
What happens? When you forward the above mail/sms to 10 more, it will also get linked to an unidentified website to work on the offer advertised! If you click this link, this website will instantly finch all your Apps and all the messages & the bank account details. The next step is obvious – taking money from your bak accounts! This can be done either on mobile money transfer or through ATMs.
If these websites also get all your passwords saved inyour mobile, some more harm can be done. It is known now that the number of What’sApp users has crossed 100 Crores. As there is a facility to use several languages including Tamil, many innocent youngsters get trapped by this fraud.
This warning has been issued by the experts from a leading international company which specialises making software protection for internet operations, Kaspersky.
