The drinking water pipeline got broke near Ambur on Tuesday, 14th April. Water flowed out of the broken pipe to the Palaru River and thus was wasted.
The project of bringing drinking water from the river Kaveri from Mettur to Vellore district is in progress. Most of the works has been completed and arrangements are being made for the public distribution.. Test-runs have been conducted at a few sections.
There was abreak in the pipe laid near Aalankuppam (near Ambur) on the banks of River Palaru on Tuesday. Water flowed out in large quantities into the river.
The public, who got aware about this, brought pots and carried the drinking water. Children enjoyed playing on the wasted and accumulated stagnant drinking water.
Tamil Nadu WSSB officers, on receipt of the news about the broken pipeline, reached the site and started the repair work. The broke pipeline was rectified by the afternoon.
