A fund of Rs. 96.30 Lakhs has been allotted to solve the prevailing drinking water problems in Ambur.

With the failure of monsoon, activities were undertaken under the self-sufficiency scheme to ensure no shortage of drinking water for the public.
Fnds od Rs. 96.30 were allotted for drilling of deep bore wells in several places under the jurisdiction of the city administration, connecting with power pumps, and setting up of storage tanks and the distribution system.
One-third of the fund, Rs. 32.30 Lakhs, was collected as donations from the public, and several companies and service institutions as cheques and handed over to the Vellopre District Collector.
Approval has been received from the authorities to commence the public work for drinking water.
