The Good Old Indian Champi

Every woman, especially us Indians, have been nagged by our mothers and grandmothers about oiling hair regularly. I still remember my mother chasing me around the backyard with a bottle of oil in her hand.

Back then, my young mind was under the impression that everything was actually going to remain the same – my hair, my skin, my athletic skills. Needless to say, ageing has shattered all my misconceptions.

Here’s why oiling in good for your hair, mind and soul!

Oiling Fact -1
Heating oil slightly helps the scalp absorb it better.

Oiling Fact -2
Divide your hair into sections and apply the oil onto the scalp.

Oiling Fact -3
Never pour oil on the head. Use your fingertips to massage in adequate quantity. Lots of oil = Lots of shampoo to wash the oil. Massage your scalp for about 10-15 minutes. It helps the blood circulation also helps your hair grow quicker..

Oiling Fact -4
Do not rub in the oil with your palm as it can lead to breakage.

Oiling Fact -5
Wrap your hair in a warm towel. The steam helps absorb the oil better.

Oiling Fact #6
Leave it in overnight or as long as 24 hours, but not more as it starts attracting dirt.

Oiling Fact -7
After washing your hair, use an old t-shirt when drying them. They are soft and much less abrasive than a towel. Stick your head in the neck-hole of the tee and twist the bodice and arms of the tee around your hair to make a turban. It will give you frizz free silky hair!

Oiling Fact -8
Repeat this process once a week or more for better results.

So ladies, don’t forget to grease up those tresses tonight.
