Grievance Day meeting was organised at Vellore District Collector’s Office on Monday, 31st August.
Collector Mr. R. Nandhagopal presided.
More than 500 petitions were received during the grievance day meeting covering issues of ration cards, old age financial assistance, and educational assistance.
The collector ordered the relevant officials to take immediate action.
Plea to ban digital banners
On behalf of the Vellore All Traders’ Association, its president Mr. Gnanavelu with his team of traders submitted petition to the collector.
There are many small and mini-shops located in Vellore Anna Salai. Digital banners kept on these shops tend to hide parts of the commercial complex. Thus, the traders tend to suffer considerable loss of business. As these traders have been regular in paying the income tax and sales tax, their suffering should be addressed immediately. Hence, displaying digital banners in front of commercial complexes must be banned and permission should not be given to fix digital banners.
Mr. Suresh from Ranipettai was working in Oman. He died in a car accident on 18th June in Oman. His wife, Ms. Shobhana submitted a petition to the collector. She had appealed about the untimely death of her husband and that she has a 3-year old daughter named Janisa. Keeping the child’s future in mind, Ms. Shobhana requested the government to provide her a job.
In a petition submitted by the resident people of Gudiyatham Peranampattu V. Kota Road, Melshopline section, explained that there are more than 20 families residing in this area. They all belong to Adi Dravida Community. There are no basic amentites like drinking water, roads, and electricity in this area. Some residents have already shifted to nearby areas.
Further, there is a ‘fat extraction’ factory in this locality. Smoke with foul smell is the effluent from the factory. The effluents are let out without safety and proper treatment. This has rendered the area unfit for living.Hence, immediate action must be taken to provide the basic amenities and to make the area free from pollution from the factory.
15 people from Varagur village of Arcot Taluk submitted a petition informing that old age financial assistance which was being disbursed has been stopped all of a sudden. It requested immediate action to be taken to renew the disbursement of old age financial assistance.
On grievance day, collector Mr. Nandhagopal gave the title of ‘Nallatchi Nayakan’ conferred by the central government to Madhanur Cooperative Agraharam city administration council president Mr. Manoharan.
The collector awarded cheques for Rs. 40000/- to 14 students (boys and girls) who secured the first 3 ranks in the 10th & 12th standard examinations in the academic year 2014-15.
The collector distributed ration cards to 14 families from Vellore & Dam Taluk and Old Tribe certificates to 7 persons.
All local senior administrators participated.
