It rained heavily in Thirupathur on Sunday, 12th April with strong breeze. Trees were uprooted and electric poles were also fallen unable to withstand the strong wind.
Over the last few weeks, Thirupathur and surroundings have been experiencing oppressively hot weather putting peopleto great hardships.
However, on Sunday (12th April) at 2.00 PM, it became suddenly cloudy with dark clouds and it rained very heavily accompanied by strong winds for half-an-hour.
Roads and streets were flooded.
An old tamarind tree in Vengalapuram near Thirupathur was uprooted and fell down because of str4ong winds. The electric poles nearby also were also caused to lean.There was apower supply failure in Vengalapuram and the surroundings.
EB employees arrived on the spot after receiving complaints and set on the job of restoring the poles and the power supply.
However, the sudden summer rains brought some releief from the oppressive summer to the people in Thirupathur.
It rained heavily on Sunday in Vellore. This brought some relief from the ususal oppressive hot summer.
It also rained in Thirupathur, Jolarpet, Vaniyambadi, Ambur, Gudiyatham, Pernampattu, Vellore and Arkonam on Sunday afternoon.
The rain in Vellore, which started a light drizzle, intensified immediately and became heavy with thunder. The temperature came down to 96.6 Degrees in Vellore from the usual 100 Degrees!
It rained lightly at Ambur as well. The intensity of heat was less from Sunday morning and it started raining suddenly at 2.00 PM. There was light rain for 1 hour.
