July to December is the best period for planting ‘Maa’.
Preparing the land: Plough the land well. Dig holes of the size 1 metre (length), 1 metre breadth) , and 1 metre depth 15 days before plantation.
10 kg of farmyard manure, 100 gm of lintane, should be mixed throroughly with the top soil and three-fourth of the dug hole should be filled.
Inter-space for hybrid plants
Hypbrid plant must be planted at the centre of the pit.
A space of 6 to 10 metres should be kept between each plant.
High-density planting can be adopted for Alphonsa, Banganapalli, Mallika, etc.
Frequent watering must be done till the plants grow well.
Vegetable, pulses, etc can be planted in the spaces, Each tree must be fed with 1 kg of manure.
Fertilisers should be administered during September/October depending on the age of the plants by filling it from the bottom up to 45-90 cm height. Then, water should be fed.
Fertilisers Ingredients for 1 hectareshould be administered at 1kg per month – dried leaves, etc – o,2, Mani – 0.2, Ash – o,3 during the 1styear.
After 6 years, dried leaves – 1, Mani -1, Ash – 1.5, Complex – 10:26:26.
Quantity of urea: 1st year – 1 kg per tree, yearly: complex – 12, urea 0.2
After 6years: complex 4.0, Urea 1,3. Potash – 0.840
Remove the dense branches during August/September every year. Allow only the healthy branches to grow. To prevent the young berries from dropping and increase the quantity of berries, administer the mixture of NAA (growth catalyst)1 ml in 50 litres of water.
For the trees which had not flowered, administer.5 % urea or 1% Potassium Nitrate solution.
