Highways Department projects for Rs. 1855 Crores: Thiruvannamalai ‘girivalam’ road to be renovated

TLDBNHI-W045_GN_05_2396367fTamil Nadu Chief Minister Ms. Jayalaltihaa announced in the assembly that projects worth Rs. 1855 Crores will be taken up for implementation during the current financial year.

 

Announcements released by the Chief Minister under Act 110:

Projects worth Rs. 18056 Crores have been executed in the department of highways and small ports during the last 4 years. Projects worth Rs. 10490 Crores are in progress. In the first phase, the girivalam route taken by devotees at Thiruvannamalai temple will be renovated with walk-paths with widths of 7 meters to 10 meters along with drainage and rest-room facilities will be taken up at a cost of Rs. 65 Crores.

Under the expanded Chennai Corporation, Highway department works are under progress at Rs. 250 Crores. Continuing this, the 2nd phase of this project will be taken up at a cost of Rs. 150 Crores during the current financial year. Railway over-bridges & under-bridges projects will be taken up the following districts with numbers – Salem – 5, Vellore – 2, Coimbatore, Cuddalore, Madurai, Kanyakumari, Thiruneveli – 1 each for a total of 12 projects at a cost of Rs. 665.36 Crores.

Renovation & maintenance works (for 5 years) will be taken up in the Thiruvallur Section for 485 km state high-road and 278 km state main roads at a cots of Rs. 680 crores.

The existing 4-line road between Singaperumal Koil & Oragadam is being converted into a 6-line highway at a cost of Rs. 120 Crores. This project will be extended  from Vandalur to Oragadam for a distance of 20 km for a 6-line road from the existing 4-line road at a cost of Rs. 200 Crores.

At the junction point where Vandalur Road, Maambakkam Road, and Kenambakkam Road meet, an over-bridge will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 60 Crores.A over-bridge construction at the junction point of Perambur – Red Hills Road, near the twin-lakes, anover-bridge is under construction on the left-side of the road at a cost of Rs. 57.22 Crores. In a 2nd phase, an over-bridge will be constructed on the right side at a cost of Rs. 35 Crores.

The Chief Minister announced that all the above highway improvement projects will be at a total cost of Rs. 1855.36 Crores.
