Indradhanush vaccination camp was conducted for the children who were left out on the previous occasion on Tuesday, 7th April at Vellore district.
At Wallajapet, the camp was inaugurated Vellore Collector, Mr. R. Nandhagopal at the city’s primary health centre.
All local senior officials on the medical & administration departments participated.
Events were organised by the Circle Health Supervisor Rajasekharan.
The collector distributed cheques for maternity assistance to 6 women.
AT Vellore Kasba, Corporation Commissioner Ms. Janaki inaugurated the camp. All senior local officials participated.
7 types of vaccinations are given at different stages to protect against TB, Pneumonia, Measles, Polio, Penta Throat Block, whooping cough, brain fever, and jaundice are being administered at the government primary health centres, government hospitals, and private hospitals.
Pregnant women are administered vaccination to prevent diseases at the early stage itself.
Finding that there are occasions where some children could not be vaccinated due to different reasons, the central government introduced a new system known as ‘Indradhanush’.
The list of children who could not be vaccinated was prepared by the health department officials.
The first phase of this activity was taken up for 8 districts including Coimbatore & Vellore.
Accordingly, the vaccination camp was organised starting on Tuesday, 7thApril and ending on 13th April.
